July 14, 2003 Dear friends, The most powerful “act” any of us can perform right now is to be instruments of peace and to reconnect to our own spiritual strength, finding the courage to face outer situations through inner determination. Thoughts of peace and the attitude of compassion are the threads that actually have the strength to bind together the human family. To do this we need God’s power. The stronger our connection with God, the more we will be able to fill ourselves with the peace, love, compassion, and caring that the world most needs now. This is a time for finding strength in moments of stillness and silent reflection. In silence, the sounds of conflict and anger recede and the essential qualities of truth, peace, and compassion can reemerge. It is these life-sustaining qualities at the core of each of us that can rekindle hope in the hearts of our brothers and sisters. Om Shanti.
